Instructions for Eloheh Earth Day Volunteers
Saturday, April 24th, from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
We appreciate so much, you volunteering at Eloheh Indigenous Center for Earth Justice and Eloheh Farm & Seeds. With your help, the vision will move forward. Please become familiar with our websites prior to coming at: www.eloheh.org and www.elohehseeds.com.
Please read the following carefully to make the most of your experience.
1. COVID Restrictions: Everyone must have a mask. All activities will be outside but whenever you are in 6’ proximity of persons not in your bubble, you must wear a mask.
2. BRING: We suggest you bring work gloves, water flasks, sunscreen and work boots. Long pants and long sleeve shirts may help you avoid scratches. Bring your own lunch and cooler if needed. Follow signs for Parking.
3. TOOLS: Our tools are limited. If you can bring a shovel, a leaf rake or a bow saw, (or chainsaw if you are an experienced operator) all of these will be helpful. Please mark and keep track of your own tools.
4. PROVIDED: Access to drinking water, a First Aid Kit and a Porta-John
5. THE WORK/TASKS TO BE DONE:
Tree/plant Planting,* Cutting camp firewood, Chipping tree branches, Raking leaves to combine with chips for mulch, Weeding and mulching trees/plants, Flagging and tagging plants, Cleaning ditches and installing French Drain, Digging a few short ditches for water lines, Installing pond-liner, Setting second Greenhouse cover, Setting Kiwi arbor, Setting playground, General clean-up crew, Clearing sections of saplings, Setting large wood-kiln tent, Dismantling brush pile/setting wildlife barrier, Paint seed shed, Straighten up behind barn storage, Weed-eating, Rock walls and pollinator beds, Treat back slab.
Special Skilled Jobs: Light carpentry and plumbing in camp bathrooms, Waterline to Orchard, Chain saw operation.
Tour: For those who would like a tour of the land, one will be provided from 8:30AM - 9:00AM. Others may feel free to walk the land as they please.
*To Plant a Tree: Dig the hole twice the width and a few inches deeper than the original potted plant. Remove from pot, gently break free some roots, loosening them. Put a little loose soil on hole bottom, set plant level with ground. Fill in around plant with new soil. Firmly press plant into earth. Water.
