Week 3 - Psalm 37:1-29
Note: This is a Psalm that speaks to and for the vulnerable in a moment when it seems those who do wrong are prospering.
Prayer Prompts
What frustrates or angers you about our world today?
What do you notice in the Psalm about the wicked? About the righteous?
Verse 5 holds a promise that God will act. How does this encourage patience and trust in God when it comes to justice in our world?
Practice verse 7 by being still and silent for a few minutes before God in order to sense God’s power and sovereignty in your life and in the world today.
Journal Prompts
Do you feel frustrated with the state of your personal life, city, or world? Do you feel consumed by your frustration or anger? Journal about your frustration.
There is caution in this text for our souls becoming consumed by frustration with the evil in our world. Bullet journal the ways the psalmist instructs the hearer instead to be consumed by God in verses 3, 4, and 5.
How might this affect your response to wrongdoers prospering in the world?
Spend some time writing about the intersection of God’s enduring presence and any frustration you feel today.
