About Us:
We are a small, urban congregation located in King, a historically Black district, facing ongoing gentrification and navigating two years without a permanent pastor.
Portland Covenant Church (formerly named Irvington Covenant Church) began in 1988 when a small group gathered in the home of Pastor Henry Greenidge, who envisioned Portland’s first multiethnic congregation. Shortly after the church joined the Covenant denomination and secured funding constructing the building that continues to serve as our home. From its earliest days, the church has been shaped by gospel-centered preaching, inspiring musical worship, and a neighborhood-oriented welcome that embraced people across racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, and generational lines. Today, even amid significant challenges, we remain committed to the heart of our founding vision—inviting all to encounter Jesus and belong to an inclusive community in a deeply divided world.
We are excited to welcome a pastor who will help guide us into a new season of growth, renewal, and outreach.
We look forward with deep, prayerful anticipation to the pastor God is preparing and calling to shepherd our church into its next season.
We encourage applications from diverse candidates.
